San Francisco 49ers waive Jonathan Baldwin
By Jack Crosby
Coming out of the draft three years ago, there were a lot of high hopes for wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin, but he just hasn’t been able to hit his stride. And now it has gotten a little worse with the news that Baldwin was waived on Sunday by the San Francisco 49ers.
Again, things have not gone well for the Pittsburgh product since coming out of college in Western Pennsylvania.

Back in 2011, Baldwin was chosen with the no. 26 overall selection in the first round by the Kansas City Chiefs. In his rookie season, he only saw action in 11 games, catching just 21 balls for 254 yards and on touchdown. In 2012, he saw time in 15 games, but his numbers only improved to 20 catches for 325 yards and just one score again.
Last season was his only one with the 49ers, and he only caught three passes for 28 yards with no scores.
It’s not over just yet for the former first-round selection, but he has a lot more work to do to get back in the good graces of those that pumped him up so much for that 2011 draft.
He’ll have to do that work, though, somewhere other than San Francisco.
