What do they always tell you about catching a baseball? Two hands! Major leaguers almost never use two hands, but they usually at least try to keep their throwing hand empty in case they need it to secure the ball. Juan Perez threw that whole idea out the window on this catch against Curtis Granderson, using his free hand to clutch his sunglasses while making the grab.

So many things can go wrong with this kind of play. What if the ball squirts out of the glove and you need your other hand to catch it but, oops, there’s a pair of sunglasses in your hand? What if you misjudge and have to lay out for the ball and your sunglasses get all messed up? What if you go into the wall for some reason and accidentally crush your sunglasses beyond recognition?

You know what I’m going to say here. Do I even need to say it? Apparently I need to say it and keep saying it until guys get the message.

WHAT THE HELL EVER HAPPENED TO FLIP DOWNS?

When did flip downs become uncool? I don’t get it man. Just use the flip downs and you never get caught taking your glasses off in the middle of a play. Dumb.
