Report: Quarterback Kyle Orton expected to retire
By Mike Dyce
The back and forth on quarterback Kyle Orton and his future has been hard to follow. There were reports that he wanted to retire, then reports that he wanted to play and even speculation that he just wanted out of the Dallas Cowboys organization and the retirement news was a bluff.

Now there is a report from Chicago Bears beat writer Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune that says he expects Orton to retire. It comes on the heel of news that suggested the Bears would be open to Orton returning to Chicago.
This is becoming a less important and less interesting version of the Brett Favre scenario. There is the snippet from late July when Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was quoted as saying that Orton wanted to continue playing and did not want to retire.
It would seem like a safe bet to assume that Jones has some knowledge of Orton’s thinking. Orton could be waiting to sign till later in the training camp to see how the various quarterback situations shape up around the league and if any injuries open up starting opportunities.
