The Los Angeles Clippers want a veteran backup center option on their depth chart, and that seems to be their next major purchase of the offseason.

More from Los Angeles Clippers

After adding Sam Cassel to the coaching staff earlier this week, further strengthening the bench in that regard, the Clippers are now looking for bench depth at center and it has them calling in a slew of well known veterans who may or may not be past their prime physically and/or mentally.

According to ESPN’s Jorge Sedano, the Clippers will be working out Greg Oden and Andrew Bynum this week along with Emeka Okafor and Andray Blatche.

The Clippers working out Oden is actually rather significant as he was looking like he may be returning to the Heat after he grew a relationship with the front office there, but it appears the good times have passed him by in South Beach. Oden is just like Bynum in that there may be talent buried in him somewhere but instead of be a nut case like Bynum is, Oden’s body has betrayed him his entire career and it’s the only main concern when considering him as an option.
