Under head coach Steve Sarkisian, the Southern Cal Trojans  finished their 2014 recruiting class on a high note, earning a signing day commitment from 5-Star athlete Adoree’ Jackson, the seventh-ranked overall prospect in the class of 2014. They finished with the country’s 10th-ranked recruiting class and the best class in the Pac-12.

With a complete year to recruit, the Trojans expect to land an even better class in 2015. On Tuesday night, the Trojans landed a commitment from 3-Star weak-side defensive end/outside linebacker Christian Rector.

“I feel I can continue on the legacy there,” Rector first told 247Sports.com on Tuesday night via Ryan Bartow.  “They have the No. 1 set up for me and its a way to open more doors for me. Its a place I would fit in at.”

Both Rector’s mother and grandfather were Trojans but the biggest reason for Rector’s commitment was his relationship with the Trojans’ coaching staff.

“They have some good coaches,” Rector said. “I know (defensive line) coach (Chris) Wilson the best. He’s a guy I can connect with. He’s real personable.”

The 6’5, 245-pounder is from Los Angeles, California and attends Loyola High School. He is ranked as the country’s 19th-best weak-side defensive end prospect, the 50th-best overall prospect from the state of California and the 415th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings. Rector chose the Trojans over offers from the Arizona State Sun Devils, Nebraska Cornhuskers and rival UCLA Bruins, among others.

The Trojans now have 14 commitments and their class ranks ninth in the country and first in the Pac-12.
