Chicago Bears list of inactives for preseason opener vs. Eagles
The Chicago Bears begin preseason play tonight from Chicago’s Soldier Field, but they won’t have a full allotment of their players for the game that typically sees starters play a series or two.

Sitting out tonight’s game will be tight end Martellus Bennett who is serving a suspension for his role in a training camp fight with first round draft pick Kyle Fuller and his timetable to return to the team remains unknown.
Joining Bennett on the inactive list is marquee free agent signing, Jared Allen, who is getting the night off after missing some practice time earlier this week after he and his wife welcomed another child to the family.
The offensive line sees the entire right side of the starting lineup out as Jordan Mills and Kyle Long are out. Mills had offseason foot surgery and Long is still recovering from a viral infection that kept him out of a number of training camp practices.
With those two out it would have been a big audition for Eben Britton to get some extended reps, but the versatile lineman is out as well.
Four members of the secondary are out as Craig Steltz, Tim Jennings, Isaiah, Frey and Chris Conte are on the shelf for the night. Conte is recovering from offseason surgery and is out for a while longer. Frey needs to get healthy as his spot on the roster could be in jeopardy.
