The Philadelphia Phillies put basically everyone on waivers this year and to the surprise of absolutely no one, Cole Hamels was one of the players claimed.

More from Chicago Cubs

Hamels was claimed by the Chicago Cubs this week but it appears that no trade or transaction is going to be made. According Paul Sullivan, the Phillies have pulled their ace back off of waivers and will not be dealing with the Cubs or their desire to acquire Hamels.

The Cubs wanted to look at trying to bring Hamels in on a trade after they claimed him but no deal is going to be made. That shouldn’t discourage the Cubs or their fans from thinking that the team is going to get better, as it’s looking like aggressively trying to acquire Hamels won’t be the last time that the Cubs are aggressive this year.
