When trade discussions occur, front offices consult with their superstars to get their viewpoint on things. That’s what the Golden State Warriors did with Stephen Curry amidst the Klay Thompson-Kevin Love trade talks. In an interview earlier today with Dan Patrick of ESPN, Curry revealed the Warriors front office consulted with him in regards to a possible Klay Thompson-Kevin Love trade.

Translation via CSNBayArea.com:

"Patrick: “How often did you talk to Klay Thompson about the possibility that he could be traded for Kevin Love?”Curry: “A few times, just to see where his head’s at. He actually took it pretty well … Obviously, our trade didn’t go through and it didn’t happen and they are keeping our core intact. I know he’s pretty happy with how things turned out.”Patrick: “Well, did management consult you?”Curry: “Yeah, they asked for my opinion … It’s just a matter of if you think that move would make you better as a team. I didn’t have an answer for it cuz you’d be giving up a lot to get him. But, uh, you know, not my decision.”"

The end-game in Curry’s discussion with the front office is that he didn’t agree with the trade, a huge factor as the two teams continued discussions. Not only does the Warriors brass overrate the talent of Klay Thompson, but his teammate in Curry does also. It’s an odd dynamic, especially when a borderline role player is the topic of discussion.

Now this group will have to prove that Klay was worth the drama. A borderline superstar was in their grasps and they opted to keep the shooting guard whose due to max large money in the off-season. All eyes will be on this group whether they want them to or not.
