New York Mets rumors: Terry Collins likely to return in 2015
By Hayden Kane
The New York Mets are not a good team in 2014, but the future appears to be bright. They have a lot of young talent in their system, specifically a lot of good young pitching. That promise could come as soon as 2015 if things come together right this off-season.

It is in that context that the Mets are evaluating their options for next season. Part of that process involves the talent on their roster, and part of it involves manager Terry Collins.
Pending a meltdown between now and the end of the season for his 57-63 ball club, Collins will be back to manage in New York again next season. Per Jon Heyman of CBS Sports:
"Terry Collins is likely to be brought back for a fifth season as Mets manager in 2015, sources familiar with the situation say. While the Mets are planning to bring Collins back to manage, officials in the know say, and the expected return assumes the Mets remain on their steady path of improvement, avoiding anything close to a collapse over the final 42 games."
This jives with the prediction about Collins’ job status dating back to earlier this summer when it sounded like his job was safe. Andy Martino reports that he is hearing the same as well.
The long view of Collins’ tenure would tell the story of mixed results at best. It sounds like the Mets are more inclined to reward recent results, however, and the fact that the arrow is pointing up for this franchise. With that, Collins will be back.
