According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, the Celtics could package Rondo and Green in a trade.

"The Celtics have had trade talks regarding Jeff Green for almost two years. With the Celtics poised to have what looks to be a sub-par season there is a strong chance that Green is packed into any trade involving the aforementioned Rondo.Green has the option to hit free agency. Assuming he plays well this season, the odds are good that he’ll opt-out and re-sign in a situation of his choosing and trade his remaining $9.2 million in for a longer term deal."

Rondo was limited just 30 games while returning from his knee injury. He averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He shot 40.3% from the field, 28.9% from beyond the arc and 62.7% from the free throw line. In his career, he’s put up 11.1 points, 8.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor, 25.2% from three and 62.1% from the free throw line. Green averaged 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 41.2% from the field, 34.1% from beyond the arc and 79.5% from the free throw line for the Celtics last season.  He has  averaged 14.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 44.1% from the floor, 34.4% from three and 78.3% from the charity stripe in his career.
