Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is making headlines around the NFL after two stellar preseason outings in a row. That has led to pundits around the league are already calling for the Jaguars to start Bortles in Week 1 of the regular season over veteran quarterback Chad Henne.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars

In two starts Bortles has thrown for 277 yards on 18-of-28 passing. Bortles has yet to get in the endzone, but not for a lack of trying.

With those numbers, it is easy to see why everyone has been buzzing and looking forward to seeing Bortles in a meaningful game.

Among those calling for Bortles to start in Week 1 is ESPN’s Skip Bayless:

Taking a gander at Bayless’ initial thoughts on the Jaguars No. 3 overall pick is quite interesting in hindsight:

Bayless has quickly changed his tune on Bortles after just two preseason starts. Looks like the Bortles pick was not so bad after all Skip.

Of course experts are prone to making mistakes just like anyone else, so let’s not get too hard on Bayless. Just try to remember that “worst pick” tweet when Bortles is making big time plays for the Jaguars during the regular season and Bayless is tweeting “I knew Bortles would be great all along!”.
