When Steve Ballmer, who has deep ties to the Seattle scene, bought the Los Angeles Clippers this summer there was instant speculation that it meant the Clippers were about to turn into the SuperSonics.

More from Los Angeles Clippers

But after denying and denying the rumors that the team might be on the move, Ballmer directly addressed the issue again on Monday afternoon as he took over the team at a Clippers fan fest.

During his introduction as owner of the Clippers, Ballmer noted once again that the team will not be moving to Seattle or anywhere else while he’s the owner of the team or as long as the brand stays hot in Los Angeles.

It’s not hard to connect the dots back to Seattle but it’s hard to move a team from the largest market in America to a market that is still growing and will never be as large as Los Angeles.

The Sonics will eventually come back, but they won’t be getting any help from Ballmer or the Clippers.
