Steve Ballmer taking over the team made a name change seem even more likely as moving the SuperSonics — named after an airplane — to Los Angeles — where one of the largest international airports in the world is located — made a lot of sense.
But Ballmer reiterated that the Clippers will not be changing their name as the brand is hot and you don’t change things that are working.
This is something that has been on the mind of a lot of fans in the months after Donald Sterling burped and spit up his racist garbage all over the brand of Clippers, but like Ballmer said, the Clippers are still a hot brand and it’s one no longer associated with Sterling.
