We’re still a few months away from actual NBA action though training camp isn’t very far off. A few teams were said to have interest in signing a bench big man before training camp begins and the Golden State Warriors are said to be one of those interested parties.

More from Golden State Warriors

There was hope that the team would be able to re-sign Jermaine O’Neal, though he has yet to make a decision about his potential retirement and given his injury woes, it’s very possible the Warriors may decide to move on from attempting to sign him.

Another target of the Golden State Warriors was undrafted rookie Eric Moreland, though he ended up spurning both the Warriors and New York Knicks in effort to sign with the Sacramento Kings. Needless to say, that has left the Golden State Warriors in a bit of a crunch though the free agent pool isn’t completely dry yet.

One player who could interest the Warriors is that of Emeka Okafor.

"Okafor is really a center. He would absolutely kill the spacing offensively, and there’s no guarantee that he is healthy either. I haven’t heard anything to suggest he is. Now, the Warriors do need a backup C, and he could help there."

As questioned above, it’s not certain how the slow moving legs of Emeka Okafor would fit with the quick paced Warriors, though he could fill when Andrew Bogut needs a rest on the bench considering neither player is exactly spry on their toes.

It’s not known as to how ready Emeka Okafor is regards to him playing this season, though if healthy he could certainly be a worthy contributor to most franchises in the NBA.
