Things have not gone well for the Orlando Magic since they traded Dwight Howard. In Jacque Vaughn’s two seasons as head coach, the Magic have won 20 and 23 games.

However, Steve Kyler of Basketball Rumors doesn’t believe Vaughn is on the hot seat yet but he could be if certain expectations aren’t met.

"First… short answer no. Jacque is not on the hot seat.Long answer… depends on the progress the team makes. Everyone’s job is to advance, and if there is a sense that the team is not progressing, then there could be some questions next summer. The last two seasons were throw away years… it was about learning and developing, not winning. This year there are more expectations, so those must be met……Jacque is not running his own program, he is running the agreed program designed and built by the entire collective."

Vaughn may have more to work with this season even after parting ways with key veterans, guards Jameer Nelson and Arron Afflalo, who was dealt to the Denver Nuggets for swingman Evan Fournier and the rights to guard Roy Devyn Marble, after a very busy offseason.

The Magic selected former Arizona Wildcats’ forward Aaron Gordon with the fourth-overall selection and traded the rights to the 12th-overall selection, Croatian forward Dario Saric and a future pick to the Philadelphia 76ers for the rights to the 10th-overall pick, former Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns’ point guard Elfrid Payton. They signed veteran guard Ben Gordon and gave Phoenix Suns’ big man Channing Frye a four-year, $32 million deal. They also claimed Los Angeles Clippers’ guard Willie Green of waivers.
