The Los Angeles Lakers got a steal when the Houston Rockets basically gave them Jeremy Lin and a first-round pick and now it’s time for Lin to make good on his end of the deal.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Lin showed great promise when he was with the New York Knicks but his years with the Rockets were sort of a waste in the end. But now that he’s with the Lakers, he as a chance to shine and truly prove that he’s an elite guard that teams can build around.

According to Alex Kennedy from Basketball Insiders, Jeremy Lin may find a long term home in Los Angeles but it’s more likely that he uses the team to sell himself to teams that offer better situations and better chances at a title.

"Lin will be an unrestricted free agent next offseason, so it’s hard to say. If he plays well, it’s possible that he could stay in L.A. long-term, but it’s also possible that he’ll go out and try to find the best situation/deal for him next summer. It’s too early to say one way or the other."

It’s far more likely that Lin becomes trade bait at the middle of the season, especially if the Lakers are losing — which is even more likely. But Lin has a bright future and a perfect situation in which to flourish and recapture Lin-sanity once again.
