By Josh Hill
The Miami Heat are still looking to add a player to their roster to try and fully replace the production of LeBron James, but that’s a task a lot easier said than done.

What Miami really wants to do is find veteran depth for its roster and one place the team has been rumored to be looking is the way of Elton Brand. The veteran isn’t high on many free agent lists but there seems to be be or at least have been some mild interest from the Heat.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Heat have indeed discussed Elton Brand as an option but it’s unlikely that the veteran ends up in South Beach before the season starts.

Brand isn’t the player he used to be and never really became the player he could have been. Still, he’s not a bad option and will no doubt be available at the veteran minimum. The only question is, will he be the only option at that price or will the Heat be able to talk others like Jordan Crawford, Emeka Okafor and Ekpe Udoh down to the minimum instead.
