The San Francisco 49ers are locked in a contract standoff with offensive guard Alex Boone, and it doesn’t seem either side is all that willing to budge at the present time.

While Boone holds out, the 49ers have fielded calls from teams looking to swing a trade for the disgruntled guard. According to Jason Cole, the Niners’ asking price thus far has been a little rich for everyone’s blood:

Since no one in their right mind is willing to give up a first or second round pick for Alex Boone (not even Jerry Jones is that crazy), it seems the stare down will continue between the player and his team.

More from NFL

I’m literally imagining Jim Harbaugh and Alex Boone staring at each other across a room, their gazes locked together like in a Sergio Leone showdown. I can hear that crazy music. Who will flinch first?

I think we already know who will flinch first. It will be Alex Boone. The player wins exactly 0.00% of the time in these hold outs.

Yet, people still try to pull this stuff.

Alex Boone should just let it go and report to camp. You can’t win when you’re taking on the man, Alex Boone. Did Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid teach you nothing?

The Western references just keep on coming.
