The biggest name in baseball at the moment is a guy who hasn’t even taken a swing at the Major League level, but that sounds like it’s about to change.

More from Boston Red Sox

Cuban prospect Rusney Castillo has been the talk of baseball thanks to his potential to become the next biggest imported sensation this season and he seems to have picked a team finally. After hearing just about everyone in the league mentioned with Castillo, the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers emerged as front runners to sign the Cuban star last night.

It appears that the Boston Red Sox have won the sweepstakes as Ken Rosenthal reports the Sox have agreed to a $72 million contract with the prospect.

It’s a huge win for the Red Sox who already have a guy that Castillo is being compared t in Yoenis Cespedes. Pairing the two together could spark another World Series run for the Red Sox and it’s something that fans are already excited about as the second half of the season just got very interesting for Boston.
