On Saturday, the three-team deal between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timerwolves and Philadelphia that will send star power forward Kevin Love to the Cavaliers with the number one overall pick in this summer’s draft, Andrew Wiggins, going back to the Timberwolves, is expected be completed. Once the Cavaliers landed forward LeBron James, they came the obvious spot for Love.

More from Golden State Warriors

Before James left the Miami Heat for the Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors appeared to be the favorite because the Timberwolves reportedly covet Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson. Eventually, the Warriors decided against dealing Thompson.

According to Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report, Thompson is “pissed” the Warriors nearly traded him.

"Eventually, they passed on everything because there wasn’t a strong consensus in the organization that they’d definitively be better. And when it became clear that Love would be headed to Cleveland instead of a Western Conference rival, such as the Houston Rockets, it made the need to roll the dice even less enticing.Myers’ attempt to be as honest as possible is appreciated, but it has come with a price. While attempts to reach Lee or his representatives were unsuccessful, a source close to Thompson said the shooting guard is “pissed” that the Warriors legitimately considered moving him."

Thompson averaged 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 44.4% from the field, 41.7% from beyond the arc and 79.5% from the charity stripe. In the postseason, he put up 16.4 points, 3.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.8% from the field, 36.4% from three and 79.2% from the free throw line.
