Cleveland Cavaliers rumors: Unlikely to sign Elton Brand

The Cleveland Cavaliers don’t have many holes on their roster, especially after the addition of All-Star power forward Kevin Love.

But the Cavaliers front office has reportedly been on a multi-month search to bring in a bench big man, though they’ve yet to find the perfect match. Might that be Elton Brand? He’d certainly fit with the veteran movement the Cleveland Cavaliers are employing, but according to Basketball Insiders it does not appear that Elton Brand is a current target.
"The Cavs seem to be pretty full in the frontcourt with Love/Varejao/Thompson/Haywood and several other young bigs. I would imagine they’d consider that route if there were to get hit by the injury bug, but otherwise they are pretty full up front."
It’s difficult to tell what type of playing time Elton Brand would receive with the Cleveland Cavaliers, though the most money they could offer him would be a minimum level contract and it’s likely Brand would be able to secure a more lucrative deal elsewhere.
Of course, the lure of playing for a title could be enough to sway Elton Brand if he was interested, but for now it appears as if the Cleveland Cavaliers will currently run with what they have. It’s possible that if an injury was to occur or they’re unhappy with the play of one of their rotational big men, a move to add another center/power forward could come later in the season. For now though, Elton Brand will need to continue to look for work if he opts not to retire.
