Since losing the game’s best player, forward LeBron James, to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat have been quite busy. They’ve signed forwards Josh McRoberts and Danny Grangers, brought in Luol Deng to replace LeBron James and re-signed Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Chris Andersen and Mario Chalmers. They are now in the market for a big man.

More from Miami Heat

The Heat have shown interest in Andray Blatche and Jason Maxiell and could be in the market to sign Emeka Okafor or Ekpe Udoh (They’re also looking for a guard like Leandro Barbosa or Jordan Crawford).

Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald reports the Heat have spoken with Brand’s agent but it is unlikely that Brand signs with the Heat.

"Among power rotation players, the Heat has shown interest in Emeka Okafor and has considered Ekpe Udoh. Preliminary inquiries were made on Andray Blatche and Jason Maxiell. Agent David Falk said he talked to the Heat about Elton Brand but that Brand is unlikely to end up here."

Brand has also been tied to the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks. Plus, a return to the Atlanta Hawks isn’t totally out of the question.

Brand averaged 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 53.9% from the field and 64.9% from the free throw line last season. In his 15-year NBA career, the former Duke Blue Devils’ star has averaged 16.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists  and 1.8 blocks per game. He’s shot 50.1% from the floor and 73.7% from the charity stripe.
