After playing parts of 18 professional seasons in the NBA, there comes a time when you get tired of the grind. For free agent Ray Allen, that time appears to be right now.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

The former All-Star has drawn interest from a handful of teams this offseason though he has yet to ink his name on any contract, leading to speculation that he may decide to hang up the sneakers. However, it appears Allen isn’t ready to call it quits, he would just prefer to avoid training camp.

One of the most physically fit players in the league, it’s not as if Allen needs to prepare his body for the upcoming season and he certainly doesn’t need to work on his individual game which is likely part of the reason he’s attempting to avoid the rigamarole of camp.

"Much like Okafor, free agent guard Ray Allen does not seem overly interested in coming to training camp. For several weeks it’s been reported that when Allen ultimately decides to play, it would be with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Something to keep an eye on is Allen joining a team, likely the Cavaliers, after training camp, if he does not reach a deal before then."

It’s hard to blame Ray Allen as most would likely feel the same way after playing nearly two decades. Of course, it’s not exactly the most beneficial stance for his team team (whomever that might be) as you’d like to have Allen in camp to bond with his teammates and to prepare for the upcoming season.

That said, when you’re a veteran talent with a resume like Ray Allen, you can pretty much get away with anything you want.
