The NFL season is right around the corner with teams wrapping up their preseason schedules this week and the games will start to count and the statistics will be official.

With fantasy football played by just about everyone and their mother now an emphasis on stats are as big as they have ever been in professional football.

Baseball used to be reserved as the sport where the numbers were easily rattled off, but over the course of the new millennium, the NFL has overtaken MLB as the league where stats rule.

Fans love predicting who will lead the league in several categories to have bragging rights over their fantasy league competitors and their friends. You can even put your money where your mouth is and place a wager on who will lead the league in any given category.

I have made my predictions for passing yards and touchdowns, rushing yards and touchdowns, receiving yards and touchdowns, tackles, sacks and interceptions for the 2014 NFL season.

Some were no-brain selections, but others are sure to raise an eyebrow and be at least a mild surprise.

After reading the list, please leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below and make your predictions for the league leaders too.
