Packers think Eddie Lacy can lead league in rushing
By Brian Miller
When someone asks a player if they are the best, naturally they are going to respond yes. When someone asks a player if they can achieve something, naturally they will say yes. And when someone asks a coach or another teammate if that players can achieve certain goals, they better say yes. Do the Green Bay Packers believe that running back Eddie Lacy can lead the league in rushing yards? Yes.
Packers running back coach, Sam Gash, was asked about featured running back by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and was quick to give the affirmative.
"“Without a doubt,” Gash told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “He has the capability of being the leading rusher and maybe even combined yards if he catches a lot of balls. I absolutely do think that. I think he’s a bell cow. He’s a big guy, and he’s physical.”"

There is no doubt that the Packers have one of the better rushers in the entire league and down the road he may very well be one of the elite running backs in the NFL but this year? The Packers are not entirely a run first offense and they are not likely going to take the ball out of Aaron Rodgers hands enough to get Lacy the kind of touches he would need to lead the league…keep that in mind fantasy footballers. Lacy faces stiff compensation from other players in the league who do rush quite a bit.
In Philadelphia, Eagles runner LeSean McCoy is ready to take his game to the 2,000 yard mark but McCoy like Lacy plays on on a offense built for the passing game. Adrian Peterson has been the top back in the NFL since arriving in the league and he plays for a team that suffers from a lack of passing attack and in Kansas City, Chiefs runner Jamal Charles is healthy and ready to go in a run oriented offense.
There is nothing wrong with promoting the possibilities of your own team, it should be applauded even if it’s not entirely realistic.
Perhaps the best news for the Packers is that they believe in their running back and they should. Lacy in 2013 as a rookie rushed for over 1,000 yards and hardly made an impact in the first three weeks of the season. He will be an integral part of the Packers offense and if he can indeed get the touches and continue his 2013 season he may actually surprise a couple of people, like LeSean McCoy and Adrian Peterson.
