Going into the 2014 NBA Draft, there’s a strong likelihood that you didn’t know much about Cleanthony Early. In fact, some may not have even known the name.

More from NBA

An non-explosive product out of Wichita State, Cleanthony Early didn’t attend a big name school. Early didn’t put up a gaudy stat line. In fact, he didn’t do much of anything other than be overly consistent and perform his job on the court like a professional.

That’s not to say the forward isn’t good, not by any stretch. But the fact remains, he’s not a guy who will routinely find himself on the highlight reel nor will he fill up a box score. Given that, his expectations are rather low however according to Basketball Insiders, Cleanthony Early could end up ‘wowing’ New York Knicks fans given his somewhat boring style of game.

"There isn’t a ton of competition for small forward minutes off the bench for the Knicks, so Early should get a chance to play. Given that the Knicks won’t expect a ton from him, he should have an opportunity to wow fans, as he is a ready to contribute type of guy."

Thanks to the New York Knicks implementing the triangle offense this season, Early will be right at home as his ability to stretch the floor will be a welcome addition.

Add in that the New York Knicks don’t have a ton of help at forward, Early should see a solid amount of playing time and could shock some with his NBA-ready game. The hype train continues to gain momentum.
