Raiders Derek Carr drops a 36-yard dime touchdown to Denarius Moore (GIF)
Derek Carr made the Legion of Boom look like the Legion of Boos. In replacement of starter Matt Schaub, who is out with an elbow injury — and may not have played had he been healthy — Carr has gotten the Oakland Raiders out to hot start against the former world champion Seattle Seahawks. He found Denarius Moore streaking up the right sideline and it resulted in an easy touchdown pass.

The little details about this play make it so great. Carr freezes the cornerback by looking the opposite way, and as soon as Phillip Adams slows down, Carr looks back at Moore, who is wide open. Adams is a third string cornerback and seems to be a likely cut from the Seahawks, but Carr is still succeed with what he’s got. It’s the common preseason adage, but it’s true.
It’s not the kind of throw that wins a quarterback competition — especially one that’s supposedly not a competition. Still, Carr puts up a pretty ball. It certainly won’t be his last.
