The FIBA World Cup is underway in Spain and Team USA is blowing out Finland in the first game of World Cup group play which isn’t really all that surprising. What is surprising is the fact that Derrick Rose is not only playing but playing like he used to before the world discovered he has noodle knees.

More from Chicago Bulls

Rose didn’t start for Team USA against Finland but he came off the bench as the blowout started to get embarrassing — and one of the reasons it got that way was thanks to Rose. In one particular play he blew past the Finnish defense for a signature two-handed Derrick Rose slam dunk.

Seeing Rose do this isn’t just great for Chicago Bulls fans, it’s good for basketball in general. The league needs Rose to be at his best because the quality of the league is just so much better when he is.

He may not be back to 100 percent but he’s getting in some much needed fine tuning in the World Cup and that’s going to be great for where he’s at when the Bulls tip off their season this year.
