The college football season continues the opening weekend of action on Saturday, and one of the match ups that we will be treated to is a game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Rice Owls.

Notre Dame is coming off a season in which they went 8-4 overall, and they did so without their starting quarterback, Everett Golson, who was suspended for the entire season due to academic issues. However, Golson worked his way back and he won his starting job back over the summer, getting himself ready to lead this team once again.
But the Irish did suffer a setback recently, having to kick four players off of the team after an academic fraud scandal, including wide receiver DaVaris Daniels.
Also, this is no slouch of a program they’re facing on Saturday in Rice. The Owls are coming off a season in which they not only won 10 games, but they won the entire Conference USA crown to top it all off.
