The Oregon Ducks have become one of college football’s elite programs over the last few seasons but their ultimate goal of winning a National Championship continues to elude them. On Saturday, they’ll begin their quest for that elusive title when they host the South Dakota Coyotes.

More from College Football

Obviously, this is giant mismatch – the Ducks have been instilled as 51-point favorites and the game will likely get out of hand before the first quarter comes to a close. Of course, watching the Oregon offense is always a treat, especially with a healthy Marcus Mariota at quarterback. Mariota was the Heisman Trophy front-runner last season, but he suffered an injury and the Ducks dropped games against the Stanford Cardinal and Arizona Wildcats.

Mariota surprised some by bypassing the NFL Draft in order to return for his senior season. Mariota, who completed 245-of-386 passes for 3,665 yards with 31 points and four interceptions while rushing for another 715 yards and nine touchdowns, should again be one of the front-runners to win the Heisman. Running back Byron Marshall, who rushed for 1,038 yards last season, also returns.

South Dakota went 4-8 in the FCS last season so they are obviously in for a very long night.
