With center Al Horford returning from his pectoral injury to team with big man Paul Millsap and point guard Jeff Teague, the Atlanta Hawks have high hopes for next season. The Hawks wanted to make a big splash but instead have made a few minor moves. They’ve signed former Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Thabo Sefolosha and agreed to a deal with former Los Angeles Lakers’ guard Kent Bazemore. They have also re-signed forward Mike Scott and point guard Shelvin Mack and could be close to bringing another free agent back.

More from Atlanta Hawks

According to Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Hawks are in negotiations with veteran big man Elton Brand.

"The Hawks have 13 players under contract next season. They agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract with unrestricted free agent forward Kent Bazemore but the deal has yet to be officially announced. The Hawks could add a 15th player before the start of training camp next month. They are in negotiations with unrestricted center Elton Brand, who played last season with the team."

Brand flirted with retirement before deciding he wanted to play in the 2014-2015 season.

Brand averaged 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 53.9% from the field and 64.9% from the free throw line last season. In his 15-year NBA career, the former Duke Blue Devils’ star has averaged 16.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists  and 1.8 blocks per game. He’s shot 50.1% from the floor and 73.7% from the charity stripe. Brand was the number one overall pick of the Chicago Bulls in the 1999 NBA Draft and has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks.
