Sacramento Kings still open to Rajon Rondo trade?

For a few months now the Sacramento Kings front office has been said to covet Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo.

It was rumored the Celtics and Kings held trade discussions before and after the 2014 NBA Draft though for whatever reason, the two sides simply couldn’t agree on a deal. Much of that was likely due to the fact that the Boston Celtics were only willing to move Rajon Rondo for an elevated price tag, however the former Kentucky star is said to want out.
A trade to the Sacramento Kings would seem to be an obvious fit as they have a significant amount of young talent that would work well for the Boston Celtics rebuilding plan, however Rajon Rondo is allegedly not willing to sign a contract extension with the Kings if he was to be traded to the California capital.
That may not scare the Kings away though as Hoops Rumors notes, Sacramento was still willing to trade for Kevin Love without any assurances that he would re-sign as well.
"The Kings were willing to trade for Kevin Love after he made a similar decree, so it’s possible they would make the same concession in dealing for Rondo."
So what would the logic on such a move be? Well, Kings star DeMarcus Cousins is good friends with Rajon Rondo and the Sacramento front office would likely hope their relationship and a core of Cousins, Gay and Rondo would be enough to sell the point guard on returning.
It seems rather risky but for a small market team like the Kings, but sometimes you have to throw the full court lob and hope luck is on your side.
