Washington Huskies suspend Marcus Peters after sideline tantrum
Although they have earned two wins in their first two games under head coach Chris Peterson, the Washington Huskies have not been impressive. They defeated the Hawaii Warriors 17-16 in week one then saw their defense implode in a 59-52 over the Eastern Washington Eagles Saturday.

Cornerback Marcus Peters was upset with the performance and slammed his helmet to the ground during a temper tantrum during Saturday’s game. According to Adam Jude of The Seattle Times, Peters has been suspended for one game.
"Marcus Peters, the Huskies’ standout junior cornerback, has been suspended for this week’s game against Illinois after his sideline tantrum during Washington’s 59-52 victory over Eastern Washington on Saturday, according to multiple sources. The suspension of Peters — UW’s only veteran cornerback — further stresses Washington’s young and vulnerable defensive secondary that ranks 117th in the nation in passing defense.Peters did not practice with the team Monday morning.Peters is the eighth player new UW coach Chris Petersen has either suspended or dismissed from the team since February."
The Huskies should be able to handle their next opponent – the Illinois Fighting Illini (4:00 pm EST, Fox) – without Peters (although that is no given after seeing them struggle in the first two), but they will surely need him and his defense to get their act together when Pac-12 play opens on September 27 with a game against the Stanford Cardinal.
