The Ray Rice situation has become just as much about institutionalized negligence as it is about domestic abuse. The back and forth about how the NFL did and then didn’t but really did or possibly didn’t know about the Ray Rice tape is getting as embarrassing to watch as it is frustrating.

It’s starting to sound though like the NFL indeed covered up just how much they knew about the Ray Rice tape, as the Baltimore Ravens have admitted that they knew about what was on it from the man who perpetrated the incident. In an interview with the Baltimore Sun, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome states that Ray Rice described the events that were shown on the tape in accurate detail.
"Ozzie Newsome: “You know. Ray had given a story to John [Harbaugh] and I. And what we saw on the video was what Ray said. Ray didn’t lie to me. He didn’t lie to me.”"
It would see on the surface as though the Ravens were doing a good thing here by saying that they knew about the incident — but they knew about the incident and still loudly stood by Rice. It wasn’t until the tape was seen that the Ravens changed their tune and this bit of information from Newsome may be more damning than he realizes.
