Fair warning to those who plan on watching the Los Angeles Clippers play this season. If you notice an abidance of thigh, you can thank Chris Douglas-Roberts.

The former Duke product recently signed a contract with the Clippers and was asked by the team what number he wanted to wear. CDR, who formerly wore No. 17 and No. 55 decided it was time for a change and informed his new franchise that he’d like to wear No. 14.
That wasn’t the only thing Douglas-Roberts asked the Los Angeles Clippers for though as he requested ‘medium’ sized shorts. Why you ask? Well, CDR says it’s time to bring back the ‘short’ shorts which were all the rage during 1980’s NBA ball.
Told Clippers I'm wearing # 14 this yr & I need medium shorts. They said medium shorts? I said yea like Stockton. Gonna be a fun yr #LobCity

Chris has routinely marched to the beat of his own drum so this seems to be right up his alley. Will the fashions statement catch on though? We’ve seen a player wear an item (or style it differently) before only to see it catch on throughout the league soon after, though the whole ‘short’ shorts phenomenon may be something that Chris Douglas-Roberts keeps to himself.
Of course, CDR isn’t the first player to rock the ‘short’ shorts in recent memory as Ron Artest did for a while, though his were still just above knee level. How short CDR is willing to go with the Los Angeles Clippers remains to be seen.
