On Saturday night, Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana entered the cage for their highly-anticipated rematch at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight was for Mayweather’s super welterweight title.

In their first fight, Maidana proved to be a very game opponent, but he was unable to eek out a decision.
Maidana was hoping that would change on Saturday night.

Round 1: The first round started with Maidana in the center of the ring and Mayweather circling away from Maidana’s power. Mayweather slipped to the mat after losing his balance, but his footwork continued to be on display. Neither fighter really did anything in the opening frame. FanSided scorecard: 10-9, Mayweather
Round 2: Maidana used his jab more frequently in the second round. Mayweather continued to show off his great movement around the ring, while Maidana was looking to start working to the body. Maidana was not throwing enough to make an impact and Mayweather was simply able to jab and run. FanSided scorecard: 10-9, Mayweather
Round 3: Mayweather got Maidana cornered in the beginning of the third round. Mayweather was picking Maidana apart. Mayweather was landing the straight right, while Maidana continued to fail at stringing together punches. Maidana nailed Mayweather with a huge shot right at the bell. Round 4: Maidana was finally able to get inside and backed Mayweather up against the ropes. Maidana was unloading with his shots. Mayweather spent most of the round up against the ropes, while Maidana hammered away on the champ. Mayweather landed a crisp counter right, but Maidana continued to stand in front of Mayweather looking for the big shots. FanSided scorecard: 10-9, Maidana
Round 5: Mayweather wanted to keep his distance in the fifth round, and he came out starting to use his jab more effectively. After Mayweather started off winning the round and dictating the pace, Maidana found himself as the aggressor and started to get back into his rhythm, but Floyd was still dictating the distance and tempo of the round. Round 6: Maidana was using the double jab and found his back against the ropes, while Maidana started to pick up the aggression in the final 90 seconds of the round. Mayweather’s movement, as you would expect, was on point and his defense was allowing him to avoid any big punches from Maidana. Round 7: There wasn’t much action in the seventh round as the two men came out dancing around the center of the ring. The crowd was trying to rally behind Maidana, but he wasn’t able to land any clean shots. Maidana wasn’t able to get Mayweather against the ropes, which was his only hope of winning a round. Round 8: Mayweather landed a sharp jab to open the round and initiated the clinch which was broken up immediately. Maidana finally got Mayweather cornered, but he was blasted by a right hand from Mayweather that changed to course of the round. The referee checked out Mayweather’s glove and stopped the action. A lot of yelling ensued from both Mayweather and his father. Mayweather was complaining that Maidana bit his glove. FanSided scorecard: 10-9, Mayweather
Round 9: Mayweather came out with a high guard and was throwing no punches as Maidana stalked him. Anytime the men would clinch, they were separated. It was far too much referee interference from Bayless. Mayweather landed a beautiful counter left hook. FanSided scorecard: 10-9, Mayweather
Round 10: Maidana was not landing anything. It was a dominating performance from Mayweather throughout the first ten rounds. Maidana was docked a point for shoving Mayweather to the mat. FanSided scorecard: 10-8, Mayweather
Round 11: It didn’t take long for the action to be halted in the eleventh round after a low blow to Maidana. Mayweather came out of the break with a strong left hand to the body and the head. Mayweather landed a strong right hand, while Maidana continued to struggle finding a home for his punches. Maidana was visibly frustrated as Mayweather continued to land to the body. Round 12: Maidana would need a knockout, but he wasn’t able to touch Mayweather with his fists. Mayweather was dancing around the ring while a frustrated Maidana had nothing for him. FanSided scorecard: 10-9, Maidana.
