Cardinals vs Giants final score: Arizona wins without Carson Palmer
By Phil Watson
Drew Stanton led the Arizona Cardinals to a victory over the New York Giants Sunday in his first start in almost four years. The Cardinals came from behind in the fourth quarter for a 25-14 win.
Arizona starter Carson Palmer was ruled out for the game during pregame warm-ups with a right shoulder injury, leaving Stanton to see his first regular-season action since guiding the Detroit Lions to a win at Tampa Bay on Dec. 19, 2010.

The Cardinals (2-0) jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by Jonathan Dwyer and a 49-yard field goal by Chandler Catanzaro—the first of four he would make on the day—but the Giants (0-2) fought back to take a 14-10 lead late in the third quarter.
New York got on the board with 37 seconds remaining in the first half on a juggling 7-yard touchdown catch by Rueben Randle from Eli Manning and took the lead with 2:03 to go in the third quarter when Manning hit tight end Daniel Fells for a 1-yard score.
Manning was better than he was in the opener Monday night at Detroit, completing 26-of-39 for 277 yards and two touchdowns, but he was intercepted twice as the Giants coughed the ball up four times. Arizona did not commit a turnover.
Catanzaro hit from 37 yards out with 11:38 to go in the game to trim the New York lead to 14-13 and after the Cardinal defense forced a three-and-out, Ted Ginn Jr. returned a punt 71 yards for the go-ahead score. The two-point conversion failed and Arizona led 19-14.
Giants kick returner Quintin Demps fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the Cardinals recovered at the New York 21, setting up Catanzaro for a 32-yard field goal that made it 22-14.
The Giants drove 65 yards down to the Arizona 17, only to cough the ball up again when Rashad Jennings fumbled after catching a pass from Manning. The Cardinals recovered at their own 14.
New York got one last shot after an Arizona punt, but Manning’s pass to Larry Donnell on fourth-and-6 from the Giants’ 19 fell incomplete.
Catanzaro kicked his final field goal from 33 yards away with 1:13 to go. Manning threw an interception to Larry Foote with four seconds to go and Stanton took one kneel down to end it.
Stanton wasn’t great—14-for-29 for 167 yards—but he took care of the ball and Andre Ellington rushed for 91 yards on 15 carries.
The Cardinals are 2-0 for the first time since 2012, when they won their first four games before losing 11 of their last 12. New York is 0-2 for the second straight season.
