When the 2014-15 NFL regular season kicked off, former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was serving as an analyst on FOX Sports 1.

Now, he’s stepping down.

Urlacher says that his decision is driven by the desire to spend some more time with his family.

“I have enjoyed the work, so this is a tough decision, but right now it’s best for me to dedicate my time to my family. I’ve enjoyed my time at FOX Sports and want to thank all of the people who helped create the opportunity for me, especially Eric Shanks, John Entz, Jay Glazer, Joel Klatt, Curt Menefee, Randy Moss, and the dedicated production and support personnel I worked with over the last year,” Urlacher said in a statement, via the Chicago Tribune.

FOX thanked Urlacher for his brief time with the broadcasting team.

“We want to thank Brian for his effort and contributions since helping us launch the network last August,” FOX Sports Executive Vice President, Production/Executive Producer John Entz said. “While we looked forward to having him as a member of the team this season and beyond, we understand his decision and wish him the best.”

I know what everyone is thinking now: is Urlacher preparing for a NFL comeback? It doesn’t seem likely, but you never know.
