MLB reviewing Marcus Stroman pitch at Caleb Joseph’s head
By Dan Zinski
Monday night, Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman delivered a fastball close enough to the dome of Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph to earn a warning from home plate umpire Ted Barrett.

Now MLB is reportedly taking a closer look at Stroman’s pitch to see if discipline is warranted.
Stroman uncorked the head-high 92 MPH fastball at Joseph an inning after Joseph stepped on the hand of Blue Jays shortstop Jose Veras on a play at the plate.
Was Stroman’s pitch retaliation for Joseph stomping Veras’ hand? That’s what MLB wants to figure out.
After the game, Stroman denied throwing at Joseph’s head intentionally, saying the pitch just slipped.
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons offered the old no comment. Orioles manager Buck Showalter was willing to comment, calling the pitch “borderline professionally embarrassing.”
MLB is on high alert over potential head-hunting incidents in the wake of last week’s brutal beaning of Giancarlo Stanton by the Brewers’ Mike Frieri.
Stanton’s beaning was unintentional but nevertheless MLB sees a need to be vigilant regarding anything happening around the head area of batters.
