College football rankings: Week 5 AP Poll released; Florida State remains on top

Week 4 of the college football season brought us a lot of excitement, excitement that could potentially give us some heavy shakeup in the rankings, especially in the Associated Press poll.

Most notably in the Top 10, the no. 9 LSU Tigers were downed at home by the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Although they mounted the comeback late in the game, they did not have enough in the tank to pull out the win and remain undefeated. They tried to revive the magic they had in Week 1 vs Wisconsin, but they just couldn’t do it.
Now as for the teams at the top, they all had difficult outings, except for Alabama against Florida. Florida State, without Jameis Winston, struggled against Clemson, but were able to pull out the overtime win.
Oregon had a rough outing against Washington State, but were also able to squeak away with one. Oklahoma got all they could handle from West Virginia, but were able to pull away in the end.
And, well, we all know how close Auburn was to getting knocked off on Thursday night by Kansas State.
