Arsene Wenger says rival Tottenham need new stadium to compete with big clubs

There’s no secret that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to build a new stadium. It has even started construction on some of the ancillary things like a supermarket and a technical college for the citizens around White Hart Lane.

However, there’s one big piece missing—the actual stadium.

Plenty of questions remain, but there’s little doubt that Tottenham need the new stadium to compete with the likes of rival Arsenal or even the West Ham’s or Liverpool’s of the world.

At least according to the most hated manager by Tottenham fans — Arsene Wenger of Arsenal.

“Financially, for sure,” said Wenger, via The Daily Mail. “You cannot be in a business where you turn down 15,000 or 20,000 people every week. If your competitors have more financial power than you, at some stage you have to make a decision.”

Wenger has a point, as that’s the exact reason Spurs are looking to finish the last parts of the process before shovels go in to ground and Spurs are building a new White Hart Lane.

However, the club have had plans to build a new stadium for the better part of a decade now and still haven’t broken ground. As we speak, it appears there is but two hold ups to getting construction going—a stubborn shop owner and a needed home for a season.

The first appears to be the biggest hang up, as Archway Steel owners have been fighting relocation even after a compulsory oder for their business was handed down earlier this year. Instead of agreeing, the owners are fighting the order to the high court and it is unknown when the matter will be resolved by them.

Once that is complete, the construction can begin and Tottenham can move on to finding a needed ground share for one season.

Will it be rumored MK Dons outside of London? Could the unthinkable happen and a ground share with Arsenal be in the offing?
