Considering the lack of playoff success he’s had as a player, some might argue that Carmelo Anthony is overrated as one of the top players in the NBA.

However, Anthony has a different view on things. The New York Knicks forward told ESPN’s Chris Broussard that, in fact, he believes he doesn’t get enough credit for how skilled he is.

It’s an interesting time for Melo to say this, given the Knicks won just 37 games this past year and missed the playoffs with Anthony leading the way. While there’s an argument to be made that Anthony’s supporting cast was much more to blame for the Knicks’ struggles, superstars are judged on team success and it certainly doesn’t help Melo’s rep.

Along those lines, Melo has never made it to the NBA Finals and has emerged from the first round of the NBA playoffs just once during his career.

However, Melo did average 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists this past season and has been one of the NBA’s best scorers for the best decade.

Still, Melo likely needs to win a title if he ever wants to get mentioned with the LeBron James’ and Kevin Durant’s of the world.
