If you watched the San Francisco 49ers squeak out a victory against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, you probably noticed a lack of Michael Crabtree on the field.

The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver was expected to be in line for a significant game considering All-Pro tight end Vernon Davis was sidelined though Crabtree was essentially non-existent, only grabbing one catch for 16-yards on the day.

Part of that was due to the fact that Michael Crabtree didn’t play very much, only seeing field action on 59 percent of San Francisco’s offensive snaps. Why was that? Might it be that Crabtree’s foot injury is worse than suggested?

"Michael Crabtree only played on 42-of-71 snaps (59.1 percent) in Sunday’s win over the Chiefs."

Crabtree has been dealing with soreness in his foot for a few weeks now though appeared to be doing okay prior to the Chiefs game so it’s possible there may have been some aggravation, though the 49ers are keeping mum on the issue.

If the foot injury scenario sounds familiar with Michael Crabtree, that’s because the former Texas Tech star has dealt with the issue on two occasions and even was forced to have surgery twice since 2009. Clearly this is an injury that has continually hampered the wide receiver and has proven to be problematic for Crabtree.

That’s bad news for the San Francisco 49ers as the talented Crabtree has struggled to stay on the field with injury during his career. It’s also bad news for Michael Crabtree himself as he’s to be a free agent at season end, so the last thing he wants to do is miss time because of another injury.
