I feel like there have been a lot of headlines as of late that have to be reiterated by, yes, you read that correct. Enter another one, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in fact shopping their prized outfielder, Yasiel Puig. The Cuban defector was signed by the Dodgers as a free agent, and it appears they are now looking to see what they can get in return.

Before bats start flipping everywhere, let’s take into account that although this revelation does seem baffling, George Ofman of WBBM Chicago has the early report. While Chicago is not Los Angeles, it appears that the Dodgers are in fact looking for suitors, and Theo is making the Cubs a potential possibility.

Check out his tweet:

If you have watched baseball at all in the last two years, you know exactly who Yasiel Puig is. Because even the casual fan understands who Yasiel Puig is, therein lies the problem.

Coming out of Cuba, Puig had quite the backstory, and his personality was well documented, however, so was his talent. Puig is brash, brazen, outlandish, and sometimes even a child on the field. He also is a herculean destroyer of baseballs, and that’s why the Dodgers are wrong.

When you sign a player like Puig, you have to live and die with him, take the good with the bad. Much like the Boston Red Sox did with Manny Ramirez, you ride the ability until it no longer is there.

The Dodgers seem to be making some very puzzling moves with their talented star lately. He was benched in the elimination game of the NLDS and, despite his mounting strikeouts, was not even used at the plate in a game that the Dodgers lost by one run.

This could get interesting for Los Angeles, and moves like this that don’t go well, are what cause organizational shakeups. Stay tuned.
