Nelson Cruz is in a position to make a lot of money this offseason, and the Baltimore Orioles will have steep competition to make sure he comes back in 2015.

Nelson Cruz was signed to a one-year deal this past offseason and he’s been worth every penny of the deal for the Baltimore Orioles. He helped the team lead the majors in runs scored off of home runs and has been the slugger every team wants to have. Baltimore has him for now, but there are a lsew of teams circling the waters below, waiting for Cruz to drop into free agency this winter.

According to Boston Globe reporter Nick Cafardo, the New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers will all have interest in signing Cruz and all are expected to make bids to get him.

"Cruz is in good position to make some money on a three- or four-year deal. He enjoys Baltimore and hopes he can stay, but as we’ve written before, the Yankees and Rangers will make bids, as will the Mariners. Cruz, 34, looks like he’ll make a bundle somewhere."

Baltimore isn’t out of the question when it comes to getting Cruz back but the money rests in free agency. The Yankees will likely offer the most money with Seattle trying to compete with that price when set. Texas has a history with Cruz, having gone to the World Series with him on their roster not that long ago, and could use their ties to conjure up a reunion.

It’s unclear where Cruz will play next season but one thing is certain — he’s in for a massive payday and someone is going to give it to him.
