Former FSU coach Bobby Bowden is not satisfied with former Heisman and leader of Florida State Jameis Winston after his off-the-field issues continue to pile up.
Former Florida State head coach and the owner of the FBS records for most career wins and bowl victories Bobby Bowden was very critical of current Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston Friday asserting the fact that he needs to grow up.
"Bowden said, “He’s got to grow up. He does things kids in grammar school would do or kids in junior high would do. Once he draws the line and says ‘I’m not going to step below this again,’ well I think he can do that. If he don’t, then he’s going to make it mighty tough on himself, I think his draft stock has already dropped.”"
Bowden continued to say that he was impressed with the way Jameis Winston consistently playing well despite the off-the-field issues.
Bowden, 84, coached Florida State for 34 years and retired after the 2009 season, just three years before Jameis Winston’s redshirt season.

Jameis Winston, 20, continues to face off-the-field issues this season. He was suspended by Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher for the team’s 23-17 overtime victory over Clemson after shouting obscene comments on the FSU campus. He is scheduled to have a disciplinary hearing with the university for his involvement in a 2012 sexual assault accusation for which he wasn’t arrested or charged. Now, Winston is also being investigated for possibly accepting money for autographs.
The defending Heisman Trophy winner helped guide his team to the BCS Championships game last season when they defeated Auburn, giving Florida State their first championship since 1999.Winston started the season ranked first of the college quarterbacks and the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy again, but his odds has slipped as well as his draft prediciton mainly due to his off-the-field issues.
Despite outside problems, Winston and Florida State are still undefeated and in good shape for a college football playoff berth. They take on No. 5 Notre Dame Saturday in a game that could decide their fate this season.
