The WWE is being proactive in combating against any potential scandal by adding a domestic violence clause to their Talent Programs Section.

The National Football League has come under intense scrutiny as of late thanks to the Domestic Violence incident involving former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice. Things only got worse when charges of child abuse were filed against Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

Just when you thought that these sorts of incidents were contained to the NFL, the National Hockey League was thrown head first into the fire when Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov was arrested on charges of Domestic Violence on Monday.

The continuing issues with Domestic Violence have turned into one of the most talked about situations in all of sports. Thankfully, the WWE has already taken steps to make sure that incidents like this do not make their way into the realm of Sports Entertainment.

The WWE has renamed the Talent Wellness Program section on their corporate website to Talent Programs and Policies. The change comes in light of an addition to the section specifically targeting any potential domestic violence incidents that may occur. The good news is, the policy is pretty strict.

"“WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault. Upon arrest for such misconduct, a WWE talent will be immediately suspended. Upon conviction for such misconduct, a WWE talent will be immediately terminated.” – WWE Corporate Website"

We don’t know about you, but we are happy to see that the WWE has been proactive about the situation rather than dragging their heels and waiting for an incident to arise before scrambling for a way to handle it.

Some people don’t seem to understand the simple fact that when you are an athlete, celebrity, or anything in the public eye, your actions directly reflect on the organization in which you represent. When you name is being dragged through the media, so is your team, your organization, and everyone you’re affiliated with.

Perhaps, in addition to the fact that it is just plain wrong, these people should give some thought to this before they go and do something incredibly stupid that they’ll regret for the rest of their lives.

What are your thoughts on the new WWE Domestic Violence Policy? Do you think that the WWE did the right thing by being proactive regarding such a hot button issue right now? Do you think the new policy will help deter any future instances? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
