Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason added an important title to his list of accomplishments this week when he was named the commissioner of the ‘Kitty Football League.’

Former Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Boomer Esiason had a tremendously successful professional football career. He played in two Super Bowls, multiple Pro Bowls, and won an MVP award. Like so many NFL greats, he parlayed his accomplishments into a nice post-career gig.

No, I am not talking about Esiason’s job as a color commentator and radio “hot take giver.” I am talking about the fact that Esiason was recently named the commission of the something called the ‘Kitty Football League.’

This is important. From The Big Lead:

"Boomer Esiason has been named the first ever commissioner of a kitten football league according to a very important press released I got from the Hallmark Channel earlier this week. The press release included this picture which shows a kitten looking at a small football."

It is simply a fact of life that some people get a step up because of their name or because of something they did in the past. That is true of former athletes more than anybody. All you can do is hope that those athletes use that power for good and make a real difference in the world.

Here’s to you, Boomer Esiason, for doing just that with this very important commissioner title.
