London wants an NFL team to call Wembley Stadium home, and the British government has pledged its full support to push that process forward.

Think of it. Waking up early on a brisk, November morning to watch your favorite NFL team in a road showdown with the London Jaguars.

The NFL upped the ante on pushing its brand into the United Kingdom this year, sending three regular season games over to Wembley Stadium. The second game will take place this weekend between the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions. That game starts at 9:30 A.M. eastern time, meaning that any well-meaning Falcons or Lions fans who live on the west coast will be waking up at 6:30 A.M.

With the NFL focused once again on football in London, the British Government voiced its support for an NFL team there full time. According to the London Evening Standard, Chancellor George Osborne said the following about the situation:

"“One of London’s massive strengths is its sporting prowess, its great football teams,” said the Chancellor, speaking exclusively to the Evening Standard.“This is primarily a decision for the owners of the clubs and the NFL organisation but I’ve said to the NFL that anything the Government can do to make this happen we will do, because I think it would be a huge boost to London.” He added: “We could have not just the Star Spangled Banner at the beginning of NFL games but also God Save The Queen.”"

Let’s just take it easy and not get ahead of ourselves, OK?

Whatever arguments there are for or against this development, it appears to continue to have momentum. As things potentially move forward, the British Government will help make a push to get a team in London.
