The Tampa Bay Rays are left searching for answers after their star manager stepped down and left the organization on Friday afternoon. Perhaps no manager is held in higher regard than Joe Maddon, and now he is technically a free agent after opting out of the last year of his deal with the Rays.
Many people anticipate a reunion with Andrew Friedman with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but for now, reports from around the league are saying that won’t happen. If it truly does not happen and Don Mattingly remains the manager of the Dodgers, that will leave 28 other teams drooling at the possibility of hiring Joe Maddon to be their next manager.
The early non-Dodgers favorite? The Chicago Cubs. Right now it has not advanced beyond the stages of guesses, speculation, and rumors, but a number of people believe Maddon is going to manage the Cubs in 2015.
